Your cat is a little greedy and you want to please him? So don’t buy him industrial treats! You actually have everything you need in your kitchen! By providing food that you can eat for your feline yourself, you can be sure that you are providing healthy food. And it’s a safe bet that he will also find it much better!
1. Small pieces of meat
The cat is a pure carnivore, unlike the dog which is rather omnivorous. Consequently, animal proteins must make up the main part of its diet. And it is only in meat that we find this type of protein.
So, do not hesitate to give your tomcat little pieces of chicken breast or turkey cutlet from time to time . Choose poultry, considered lean meat, rather than fatty meats, such as beef or pork. And above all, banish cold cuts.
However, be careful never to give it the fat of the meat or the bones . Indeed, the latter are sharp and break easily. If your cat swallows them, they could hurt their mouth, puncture their stomach or even cause an intestinal obstruction.
Also, remember to always cook the meat before giving it to your fur ball. And for good reason, raw meat can contain many parasites and bacteria dangerous to its health.
2. Fish oil
Contrary to what you might think, canned fish, especially tuna, is not recommended for your cat. Indeed, the latter often contains too much fat, salt and mercury . However, mercury is a very toxic substance for our feline friends. Note that fresh tuna is also not a good option.
It is better to give your cat fish oil (salmon, herring, sardines, etc.), which has more health benefits. Indeed, in addition to being palatable, it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It can therefore help strengthen the immune system of your tomcat and give it a strong and shiny coat.
However, be careful not to give it too much! A few drops in his food bowl once or twice a week are more than enough.
It may sound surprising, but eggs are also a source of protein . You can therefore give them as treats to your cat to reward him for having done well for example.
To prepare them, nothing could be simpler. Cook the eggs in boiling water for 10 minutes to obtain hard-boiled eggs. Then immerse them in cold water and remove their shells by rolling them gently on your work surface. Finally, cut them as if you were going to prepare an egg salad or mash them to make it easier for your cat . That’s it ! Note that if your cat prefers yellow, do not hesitate to give him only yellow.
